ARES Prototype Works

From problem to physical prototype.

In-house rapid prototyping and digital fabrication for selected customer projects and ARES internal research and development.

A capability of ARES

Start with what the part needs to do.

ARES Prototype Works provides rapid prototyping, digital fabrication, design-for-additive-manufacturing, and selective custom fabrication for technically interesting or specialized problems.

We are not a high-volume print farm and do not compete on commodity per-gram printing.

ARES Prototype Works is a business line of ARES Technology and Solutions, LLC, based in Columbia, South Carolina.

Design

Develop or refine the geometry around the problem, the intended use, and the fabrication process.

  • CAD development and modification
  • Design for additive manufacturing
  • Reverse-engineering where appropriate
  • Fixtures, enclosures, and mechanical concepts
  • Print-ready design refinement

Prototype

Make a physical version to evaluate fit, function, or presentation, then use what it reveals to guide the next iteration.

  • FDM and resin fabrication
  • Fit and function prototypes
  • Test articles and presentation models
  • Small custom parts
  • Rapid design iteration

Special Projects

Selective one-off commissions, unusual fabrication problems, and low-volume specialized work where the design thinking is as important as the finished part.

Bring a concept, an awkward fit, or a problem that needs a physical test. We assess the scope and whether the project fits the capability and available capacity.

Scope and scheduling

Accepted to fit the work and the capacity.

All work is capacity-accepted. Scope, schedule, and lead time are agreed before work begins.

The same fabrication capability supports ARES internal R&D. Customer engagements are selected around the problem and the capacity available to solve it.

Have an unusual problem?

Describe what you are trying to accomplish, the constraints, and what you need to learn or test. Include drawings, photos, or files through our existing inquiry channel so we can assess whether the project is a fit.
